This hands-on half-day surgical workshop allows participants to practise on live animals, and is designed to provide surgical trainees and fellows with the concepts of surgical techniques in liver transplantation using the porcine model.

Objectives

  • To allow participants to perform liver transplantation using animal hands-on model

9.40am to 10.05am Video demonstration of open and lap LDLT donor surgery
10.05am to 10.10am Demonstraton of ICG imaging system (Olympus)
10.10am to 11.30am Live Hands on — pigs for explantation of liver

11.40am to 11.50am Backtable preparation (Videos) — Differences between LDLT and DDLT

Exchange the livers and implantation as per DDLT
