Liver Transplant Surgical Workshop

This hands-on half-day surgical workshop allows participants to practise on live animals, and is designed to provide surgical trainees and fellows with the concepts of surgical techniques in liver transplantation using the porcine model.

9.15am to 9.25am Videos of Liver Explantation
9.25am to 9.40am Living Donor Liver Harvesting (Open and Lap Techniques)
9.40am to 10.05am Video demonstration of open and lap LDLT donor surgery
10.05am to 10.10am Demonstraton of ICG imaging system (Olympus)
10.10am to 11.30am Live Hands on — pigs for explantation of liver

Demonstration of Hemostasis Optimisation Programme (HOP) by JnJ

11.40am to 11.50am Backtable preparation (Videos) — Differences between LDLT and DDLT
11.50am to 12.10pm Implantation of liver graft — the major steps
12.10pm to 12.20pm Videos of implantation of liver graft
12.20pm to 12.30pm Demonstration of energy device (Harmonic)
12.30pm to 2.00pm Liver Hands on — pigs ligation of structures and explant
Exchange the livers and implantation as per DDLT
2.00pm End of hands on practice & Debrief
Presentation of Certificate of Participation and Photo taking
