A/Prof Shridhar Iyer is a Senior Consultant and Head, Division of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery and Surgical Director of Liver Transplant Program at the National University Hospital. Graduated from Grant Medical College, Bombay University, India in 1994, Dr Shridhar Iyer then underwent training in Surgical Oncology at the Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai. He was admitted as a Fellow to the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, UK in 1999. He moved to Singapore in 2001 to pursue his interest in Hepatobiliary Surgery and Liver Transplantation. He completed the Advanced Specialty training in General Surgery at the National University Hospital and was admitted as a Fellow to the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine of Singapore in 2005.
Dr Iyer completed his fellowship in liver surgery and liver transplantation at the Chang Gung Memorial Hospital in Taiwan, with a focus on living donor liver transplantation. He trained in different aspects of the liver, biliary surgery, and living donor liver transplantation. His research interests are HCC, liver regeneration mechanisms, ischemia-reperfusion injury of liver and different aspects of living donor liver transplantation. He has a keen interest in surgical education and served as the Program Director for the General Surgery Residency program.
