In May 2025, the National University Hospital’s National University Centre for Organ Transplantation (NUCOT) and Singapore will be hosting the International Liver Transplantation Society (ILTS) Annual Congress. As part of NUCOT’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness about organ donation in Singapore, we have partnered ILTS to launch a special Legacy Project – “Tree of Life: Where New Life Takes Root”.
This initiative commemorates the sacrifice made by organ donors and symbolises the renewal of life that takes place through organ donation and transplantation. Just as a tree takes root and flourishes, organ donation gives recipients a second chance at life, allowing them to thrive. Through this project, we hope to inspire meaningful conversations about the lifesaving impact of organ donation while reinforcing our hospital’s commitment to this cause.
Sharing our commitment to environmental sustainability and organ donation awareness, several other hospitals across Singapore have joined this initiative by pledging to plant trees in their respective communities. These include Alexandra Hospital, Ng Teng Fong General Hospital, and Woodlands Health Campus. This collaborative approach underscores the healthcare sector’s dedication to both saving lives through organ transplantation and creating a greener, healthier environment for all Singaporeans.
